Lago Bianco looks like it was pulled straight out of a Christmas story. The snow-covered mountains accompanied by turquoise water makes the perfect setting for a train ride. Seeing photos of this magic location doesn't compare to actually sitting in the red train as its zooming across the snowcapped scene.
Lago Bianco or White Lake is a glacial lake situated at an elevation of 8,650 feet, making it one of the highest-altitude lakes in the Alps. Lago Bianco is fed by several small glaciers, and its waters are a brilliant turquoise color due to the high concentration of minerals in the glacier melt.
Activities
The lake itself is situated in the middle of the Alps and is subsequently surrounded by mountains. Lago Bianco has many activities including hiking and biking. There are multiple tails that vary between difficulty near and around the lake. There are also boat tours offered on the lake that allows visitors a closer and more relaxed option for observing the scenery. The scenery of the lake and the mountains also makes a picture-perfect location for a picnic!
